2 Days to Praha!

It’s coming down to the last couple of days of me being in the U.S. It’s Tuesday and I am leaving for Prague on Thursday! Yesterday I found out where I will be living in Prague and who I will be living with in my apartment! Luckily, my roommate is on my flight from SFO, so I won’t be totally alone. I will be getting to Prague on Friday, staying in my apartment for one night and then heading off for a week-long tour through Vienna, Austria and Budapest, Hungary! So more on that later.

For now, I am constantly trying to think of anything I could possibly be forgetting to pack. I saw this article this morning and can  personally relate; It gets me: Reasons Packing is the Worst.

I have been trying to look up where I will be going during my first week, reading other blogs of people who have also gone to Prague through USAC, and looking up little things like table manners and the fact that 10% tipping to waiters is normal. I have learned that being on time is very important to the Czech and I can especially tell from how Jan, our resident advisor says, “Meet at 8:00 am SHARP”. I’m learning the appropriate way to greet people and some of the language, but really I only know “yes ” and “no”. But no matter how much I am trying to prepare, I’m probably not going to be prepared either way. I know will learn a lot when I get there, so I am really excited for that.

I will try to update once I arrive in my apartment in Prague, but I have a feeling that after being on a plane for 12 hours plus an hour and a half layover in Germany, only staying for one night and then taking off the next day for a whole new country, this may be difficult to do right away. See you on the other side of the world!

Not exactly the route we are taking, but you get the idea.

Hello Everyone!

My name is Lauren Hall and I’m somehow a ~senior~ in college at Chico State now. I am 20 years old and this summer I am studying abroad in Prague, Czech Republic. This blog is for me to write about the experiences I have while abroad and for anyone who wants to follow along and read. Enjoy! 😃
